Electrotherapy uses direct current to galvanization, iontophoresis and electro-water bath. Low frequency current (pulse) is used to perform diadynamic treatments and to electrostimulation. Medium frequency currents are interference currents which have a similar use as diadynamic currents. High frequency currents are used to short-wave diathermy treatment, including pulse.
Indications: neuralgia, polyneuropathy, peripheral paralysis, difficult synostosis.
Contraindications: purulent inflammation of the skin and soft tissue, cancer, hemorrhagic diathesis.
